Tara Jarmon Skirt and J Crew Hat

Have you ever felt fabric so light and soft, you'd swear it was silk? That's what this skirt feels like but it's actually made of 100% cotton.

The skirt's contrasting print reminds me of Marc Jacobs. I could not believe my eyes when I saw this at the thrift shop. It was brand new with the tag attached for £10.

I researched Tara Jarmon's clothing and her clothes are beautiful. Very elegant and feminine.

The J Crew hat was only £3 and that was brand new too. Great for keeping my head warm and keeping the sun out of my eyes. I like how its not a beanie and you can fold it up without worrying about it losing it's shape.

Triple 5 Soul Wool Pleated Miniskirt

Another post with gratuitous posing. (Hopefully I'll find something constructive to do with my free time.)

I confess to breaking my spending ban today. Tried on this skirt "for fun" at the thrift shop and sternly reminded myself no more spending. So the skirt went back on the rack.

I went home but rushed back 30 mins later to buy it. The skirt was stuck in my head. It was like a compulsive disorder!

By then the shop had closed for the day. I knocked on the door because I could see staff inside. Then shamelessly through the glass, I pleaded for them to let me buy the skirt.

It would have been fine if they told me to come back tomorrow. I appreciate that they're volunteers and it was past closing time. The saleslady took pity on me and opened the door. I grabbed the skirt, gave her £6 and quickly left the store.

My spending ban is not working!!! I really hope I get a job soon.

Forecast Retro Tribal Print Skirt

Just before walking out of the Op shop empty-handed, I found this skirt from Forecast.

The colourful retro pattern is printed on silky soft cotton. Feels light and flowy as you walk. Problem was, the second button was missing. And there was no price tag.

The lovely salesgirl who serves me every week, ummed and ahhhed over a price. She was hesitating because she saw the missing button.

I interrupted her mumbling: "Er, did you say $1?"

She nodded reluctantly like it was an unreasonable amount. "Unfortunately that's the cheapest I can..."

"Done! I'll take it!" And I gave I her the cash.

Was'nt going to argue her there! She's a doll for trying to give me a good price even when her original price of $1 was a steal.

At home I found an spare tan button matching the print. Within minutes I switched with the waist button with the missing one. Skirt is as good as new!

Supre "Alice McCall" Skirt & Absolutely Essential Etiquette Book

I found this Supre high waisted skirt at the Op Shop. The design is out there but if Mischa Barton can pull it off, then surely I can too???

Regrettably on me, it looks like a "no-waisted" skirt! Not sure if I'll wear it now.

Also bought The Absolutely Essential Penguin Guide to Etiquette. (Actually not for penguins.) I mention this because I believe observing etiquette is part of beauty maintenance. This book is a humorously written modern day guide.

Both items were a steal for $2.50 AUD!

Chiffon Animal Print High Waisted Mini Skirt

Holy cow! A hybrid between a Dalmatian and Friesian.

Can't tell if this skirt is vintage since there is no label. I bought this from the Op shop for $4 AUD.

The side gathered design and high waist sparked my interest even though it had a questionable animal print. Do I dare to wear this skirt to work?

It would look awesome with a black bodysuit, tights, booties. Too bad I don't have booties or a bodysuit so I'll let you use your imagination ;)

Black and White Plaid Skirt

While it's hard to say no to a bargain, I'm painfully picky when it comes to buying from op shops. I check for flaws, make sure it fits perfectly and that I would actually wear more than once.

One morning I said "no" the above plaid skirt. Went window shopping at Parramatta Westfield afterwards. Plaid was everywhere.

I'm alarmed actually. Do people not worry about looking like bogans when they wear plaid hooded jackets?

Realised that I should have bought the skirt at the op shop since similar ones in the retail stores cost ten times as much.

I rushed back before the op shop closed to rescue my $4 AUD bargain. A fully lined, fitted skirt for winter. How could the original owner part with it?

The design is cute and the plaid is timeless. Did'nt realise until I wore it in public, that the front slit was too revealing. Wish I knew how to add another buttonhole but I made do by sewing up the gap.

This is now my favourite work skirt!
